This sort of bagpiper, called zampognaro from the name of his instrument, zampogna, is a Neapolitan Nativity character. Head, hands and foot of terracotta, glass eyes to give a deeper expression.
Hand painted cloths of batista cotton. Body of hemp and iron which allow better mouvements. The bagpipe, a wind instrument from which the name of the character, has got wooden poles and a bag of kid skin.
The manufacturing follows the 18th century Neapolitan tradition.
